If you come from the city for two nights, you are not looking for another list to tick off. You are looking for a place where cars are heard less, where coffee lasts longer, and where the evening is not pushed along by notifications. Here, at Laguna Nuferilor, a weekend for two usually begins on the terrace, with the Somova-Parcheș lakes below the hill and the phone left in your pocket.
We are in Somova, about 10 km west of Tulcea, on a hill above the Somova–Parcheș lake complex, in the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve. The paved road reaches the gate, and the GPS is 45.1961, 28.6580. For those coming from Bucharest, the 4 hours and 30 minutes of driving gradually change the rhythm: field, bridge, water, reeds, then the short climb toward the guesthouse.
We believe the view from the hill is not the background of this weekend. It is the part that settles everything else. In the morning you see mist over the water, sometimes very low, like a thin sheet. In the evening, 30 minutes before sunset, the reeds catch yellow light, and the lakes no longer seem so far away. We wrote more about this place in the article about the view from Somova hill.
Friday: arrive, breathe, do not hurry
Check-in starts at 14:00, and check-out is at 11:00. If you leave Bucharest around 14:00, you reach Somova around 18:30, with enough time to leave your luggage, open the balcony door, and catch the sunset. In summer, the sun goes down late, around 20:30-21:00. In winter, the light gathers much earlier, but the quiet has another weight.
For two nights, the simplest choice is our double room with balcony. Room 3 has 18 m², a double bed, private bathroom, air conditioning, mini fridge, 81 cm SmartTV, free Wi-Fi, hair dryer, and partial lake view. We do not promise you will spend much time watching television. Usually, the balcony wins.
If you want more space, Room 5 is a triple room, with 23 m² and panoramic view. For two people arriving with luggage, cameras, books, and the wish to sit without a fixed schedule, the extra space is felt. Rooms 5 and 6 have the most open panorama; Room 3 and Room 4 have partial views.
Friday evening does not need many plans. You can go down to Tulcea for dinner, choose something simple from restaurants in Tulcea or Mahmudia, then come back up the hill. We do not have a restaurant, and we do not like wrapping the guesthouse in holiday-package promises. But we do have a garden, gazebo, hot tub, grill, and this quiet place above the water.
Saturday morning: coffee with the lakes below the balcony
Saturday begins best without an anxious alarm. If you still wake up early, around 5:00-6:00, you can hear birds and sometimes the roosters from Parcheș. Light enters in turn over the water, over the reeds, over the yards. In the city, morning is often only the prelude to a full day. Here, morning is a moment in itself.
Coffee on the balcony is the reason many choose two nights, not one. On the first evening you arrive and recover from the road. Only on the second morning do you feel the place settle. If you chose Room 3, you see the lakes and surrounding hills partially. If you chose one of the panoramic rooms, the water opens wider in front of you.
Breakfast can be added to the booking, at 75 RON / person / night. For a short weekend, it is easier this way: you do not start the morning by driving for supplies, and you do not lose the best part of the day. And if you prefer to first see what the place looks like, you can see the place in photos or take the virtual tour beforehand, without choosing under pressure.
On the water, but without rushing
For Saturday, the best outing is a boat trip on the Somova–Parcheș lake complex, with a route chosen together. We do not have a pontoon or landing stage at the guesthouse, so we keep it simple: departures are from the water, organized locally, and we help you match the time and route. The trip is added to the booking.
Early morning is usually the best window. The water is calmer, the light falls at an angle, and the birds are active. It is not an outing made for perfect photographs, but for that quiet in which the paddle, the slow motor, and the reeds seem to hold the conversation for you.
If you prefer to move on the water by yourselves, we have single kayaks. That means one kayak per person, not a double kayak. The life jacket and paddle are included. Prices for kayaking together at sunset are 60 RON for 0-3 hours, 90 RON for 3-6 hours, and 120 RON for a full day. The 3-6 hour option is the one chosen most often.
For two people, the kayak has something very good: you are close, but each keeps their own rhythm. You stop, wait for each other, then go again. In the evening, the light on the channels changes the color of the water and makes speaking softly come naturally. If one of you does not feel sure in a single kayak, the boat trip is the more relaxed choice.
A short lunch, a slow afternoon
After the water, do not overload the day. You can eat in Tulcea or Mahmudia, where local dishes are easy to find: storceag fish soup, carp plachie, grilled fish, but also simpler options for those who do not want fish at every meal. For wine, Dobrogea naturally leads you toward Murfatlar or Murighiol.
Back at the guesthouse, the best part is the pause. A shower, an hour of sleep, a book, two chairs taken outside. In the garden of about 800 m², nothing happens too loudly. Sometimes that is exactly what is missing from a couple’s weekend: time that asks for nothing.
If you have only two nights, I would not put long car drives, a boat trip, kayaking, and a complicated dinner all into Saturday. The Delta does not end in a weekend. Better to leave room for silence. And if you feel that two nights are not enough, you can extend it to 3 days and leave a whole day for roads on land.
Saturday evening: fire, hot tub, grill
Saturday evening is the moment when the guesthouse changes rhythm. The terrace grows quiet, the light falls, and after sunset the warm air remains over the garden. On the terrace in the evening, the connection is not meant for sitting on your phone. Wi-Fi is in the room. Outside, it works best to let the network be absent for a little while.
The hot tub can be reserved for the evening: 150 RON / 2-hour session. It has soft lights, and we keep it for the guests who reserve it, so it does not turn into rushing between groups. In summer it is good after a day on the water. In winter it becomes the center of the evening, especially when the air is cold and the warm water makes the whole place seem quieter.
For dinner at the guesthouse, there is a BBQ set at 125 RON and a grill area with pergola/gazebo. It is a fitting option for couples who no longer want to go down into town. It is not a meal with many ceremonies. It is fire, table, air, a glass of wine, and the breathing room of not driving anywhere else.
If there is a right moment for a big question, here it does not need complicated decoration. It can be on the terrace, before sunset. It can be after a trip on the water. It can be in the evening, when the hot tub is already prepared and the garden empties of noise. For special arrangements, it is best to ask us at booking, in good time, so we can see what can be done cleanly and naturally.
How much two nights cost, realistically
For two people, two nights in Room 3 means 280 RON / night. The room costs 560 RON for the weekend, without extras. If you add breakfast for two people, two mornings, you reach another 300 RON. One evening in the hot tub is 150 RON, and the BBQ set is 125 RON. The boat trip is added separately to the booking, depending on the route chosen together.
The booking model is simple: 50% deposit online through Revolut Pay, the rest on arrival. Prices are in RON, and the minimum stay is 2 nights. Cancellation is free 14 days before arrival. For questions, the non-stop phone number is +40 770 641 551; on WhatsApp we answer until 22:00, and we handle emergencies non-stop.
The realistic budget for a weekend for two usually sits between 1,500 and 3,000 RON, depending on meals, the road, the boat, and what extras you choose. The difference does not come from luxury, but from how much you want prepared for you and how much you want to improvise.
When it is worth coming
May-June and September are the months I would choose first. In May and June everything is green, the birds are active, and the heat does not press down yet. In September, the water keeps the warmth of summer, the light turns yellow earlier, and evenings on the terrace are more settled.
July and August are beautiful, but hot and fuller. If you come then, plan the day around morning and evening: water early, a break at noon, terrace after sunset. Winter is something else. You do not come for green, but for quiet, cold air, warm hot tub, and fire. For some couples, that is in fact the better version.
Sunday: leaving without hurry in your chest
Sunday morning is best not spoiled by packing in a rush. Check-out is at 11:00, so there is time for coffee, breakfast, and one more look toward the lakes. If you are heading to Bucharest, the long road feels easier when you do not leave already tired.
You can stop in Tulcea for a short walk or for lunch. You can take the direct road home. You can leave the monasteries, Enisala, a full day by kayak, or a longer trip on the water for next time. A good weekend is not the one in which you did everything, but the one after which you still feel like coming back.
